Welcome and Introduction.

Welcome to my blog dedicated to recording the construction of my Model Railroad. I am Shawn Karney and have been a Model Railroader for 20 + years.

This layout is based on the operations of the New York Central Railroad Pennsylvania Division in and around the NY - PA state border.  The layout is set in the autumn season during the years of the steam to diesel transition period, roughly 1952 to 1957.

Prototype: New York Central  Pennsylvania Division
Era: 1952 to 1957 steam to diesel transition.
Scale: HO scale
Size: 14 x 20, Double Deck
Benchwork:  mostly open grid, some L girder with homasote
Track: Atlas code 100
Turnouts: Mostly Peco, some shinohara
Minimum Radius: 30 inches on mains, 26 inches in Baker St., yard.
Control: Digitrax DCC
Layout height: 36 inches to 60 inches
